Best Front Door Locks

It's Not what to do After someone breaks in. But what to do Before, so They Don't get in

Prevention is what we are going for here!

We looked before at ways you can fortify your door, making it stronger by using simple screws and now we'll take a look at some locks you could try.

As I was thinking about this topic, it came to me that just about Everybody has WIFI, possibly a computer and a Smartphone.

So why not take advantage of all that with our door locks?

Ever leave the house and wonder if you actually Locked the Door?  There are now Many locks that take advantage of the many WIFI systems available like Google Home and Alexa.

A lot of them work by Fingerprint or Passcode, all have batteries and can be opened with a key also!

Connect them to an app on your phone and you can remotely check the door if it is locked or not and lock or unlock it remotely.

Here are a few from Amazon you should take a look at:

 here it is

And for those that are looking for a more standard type lock we found a few for you as well:

This one is a double dead bolt that uses a key entry.

And a more traditional dead bolt lock

Say What?

What are we going to talk about?  Well, quite frankly a LOT of things that we hope will be useful to a wide range of folks and mainly that group over 50.

WHY?

Things that seem important when we were 20-40 have changed after 50.

That and the fact WE Are over 50 ourselves and have noticed how in our own lives things have different priorities.

You know how when you click on ads like in Facebook and the landing page is like 2 miles long?

Yea these aren't going be like that.

Less is More--Straight to the point with way less scrolling to get to the good stuff.

We started out with talking about how to shore up your home defenses, something that Everyone can take advantage of and will continue with that, but we also will explore other topics as well:

  • Ways to stay safe when NOT at home [legally]
  • Fashion after 50 [it doesn't have to be Frumpy Dumpy]
  • Pets and Pet accessories [should you or shouldn't you have one]
  • What about Gardening?
I'm sure as we develop this more in depth there will be other topics we can add to this list!

Door Security Guard

What makes you feel safe in your home now a days?

Having a Deadbolt? Maybe a Steel Door? An alarm system? Outdoor Cameras?

They are all good choices, but, how can we prevent or at least make it harder for someone to get access in the first place?

Well one thing you could do is to replace the screws on the door jamb of the lock you have now with ones that are much longer that the typically installed screws.  With this not much expense except for some longer screws.  What this does is re-enforces the jamb so it is harder to come apart when someone tries to "kick in" your door.

Of course, you can always search for added things you could but to install something to add a bit more strength to the door. something like this Door Guard from Amazon you may find useful.

Here are some more from Amazon you may want to take a look at:

This one is relatively simple to install with a drill and screwdriver and a little bit of your time.

We also found something for the Sliding Glass Door in your home!

Until next time hoping this has you thinking about Home Security
